Considering Voice acting...

Posted by SimCorder - May 3rd, 2009

After seeing my old friend Fatkidwithajetpack rise from a lesser musician to a somwhat popular voice actor, I was considering I should start voice acting too, but the thing is... Do I have the right gear and What does it take to do ok acting? stuff like that.. Right now I got this old Mic that's stashed in my closet and this Mic thats attached to the top of my moniter.

So, whats your advice NewGrounds?

UPDATE: I've gotten my hands on a bit of voice recording software and I'll probably give this a shot when I have the time and a quiet environment to record in.

UPDATE2: Seems a little dilemma at the moment so this might take a while

Try them out.

Then show them to people and ask if the quality is good (both of your voice and the microphone).

Alright I'll work on that when I get the chance,

if you ever need help with this type of stuff just give me a message i know all the tricks to the trade (voice acting wise that is) plus i will answer all your questions

Sweet, I'll be sure to drop by if I get into full swing on this gig. thanks a ton

Yea, like, why not try. I mean c'mon, ya can't be that bad :D. Broles covered pretty much what I was going to say, though. My comfortable voices came pretty easily though. I have like... four. My chick (people say it needs some work but it is good enough to use), my chronic cross-dressing public masturbater dude (mostly perfected but a few words kinda lose the umph), My english prissy guy (like n e one can do that one XD), my dramatic overtone of awesome, some other ones, and I'm working on the romantic lover type voice. Anyway, enough about me XD. Another thing: don't EVER get your mouth too close to the mic, especially if it is a bad mic. It allows people (even with bad headphones) to hear the saliva in your mouth smacking together. Also, speak up. You'll prolly have to be louder than you regular voice volume depending on your mic. There is other stuff you'll have to learn but whats the fun of knowing it all XD. N e way, that's all I got to say so I'm out :D.

hahaha, Well voice acting seems pretty easy, (probably unless you haven't been doing it here and there for your whole life) but it probably makes sense that practicing is necessary for those hard parts of the career, I'll also take the don't speak directly into the microphone thing to mind, Someone also mentioned to me you can make this screen with a thin kind of fabric which stops your breath but not your voice from entering the microphone.

Hmm... I've never actually heard of that fabric stuff XD. I'll check it out :D.
