Spoiler was the character that made me aware of Zeurel's work when he debuted on NG years ago. Been a fan of his ever since, while his OCT days seem to be over, its nice to see people still remember/draw him.

As for the work itself, its flawless as far as my amateur eyes tell. For some reason the way you drew spoilers head/face feels more... "right/correct" when compared to Zeurel. I can't put my finger on why though.

CraftyFeathers responds:

Thanks so much. I tried to use a mix of his character sheet and I watched the old flash animations to kinda get a feel of both styles and then try and mix em up together

When I look at this, I notice there are some similarities to Mogy64's artwork, most notably in the paint-like coloring style and the fine tuned/realisitc details in anatomy. While it might just be a coincidence and/or a sign of expert level artistic skills, I'm curious if there was any inspiration taken in regards to Mogy's work.

As for the picture itself, its really well done. What I think makes this unique is the attention to detail and objects in the back & foreground, especially with the robot in the reflection of the mirror.

cashumeru responds:

thanks Sim! i like little details and fleshing them out is the best part! mogys a good friend of mine, tho im curious how painted backgrounds and anatomy details could be a staple of someone specific, but im just assuming youre used to seeing artists/pieces within a newgrounds frontpage basis mostly so i understand why youd make the association

I might just have EVE online on the brain, but watching this just makes me think back to how awe-inspiringly badass it is to to see a whole bunch of giantic and small ships traveling together at lightspeed. This though, brings in a whole atmosphere of warped color.

The red to blue is a nice touch along with the streaks of white, must of been real challenge to blend all that and make sure it came out just right. Especially on the finer details such as the shields, thrusters and lights.

Kamikaye responds:

Thanks a lot !! :) EVE is definetly one of the games that shows these things the best way. And served as an inspiration for this.

Wind Waker fanart with a dash of realistic proportions... AWESOME!

dommi-fresh responds:

you got it

For a sketch this is well detailed

The detail you put into this is astonishing, although its grayscaled, you can tell where the lighting and how bright or dark the colors might be if this was colored. Which is very amazing.

I wish I could draw like that...

Kinsei responds:

Cool thanks,
I guess it came out well for a sudden hit of inspiration :P

That woodpecker...

Recalling my bird watching skills, that bird resembles a Flicker, That crest and the speckled feather pattern (which you captured very well) are few of the characteristics I recognise. However I'm not sure if I'm right since theres no feather patterns on its chest

You did an impressive job with this, The lighting is balanced, the birds posture seems to appear correct to an extent. The only visible flaw I can make out is that theirs no indication of where the legs exit the feathers.

This link leads to a photo of the same bird (or at least very similar if my guess was incorrect) in a similar posture, you can kind of see how the legs extend from the body.

Finally, the fact you managed to get that detail in charcol, is suprising. I've tried making a drawing with charcol myself, it wasn't easy, either that or I a tad too impatient. Overall, aside from a flaw or two, this is a excellent picture.

TheL1st responds:

thanks, this is actually one of the first birds i drew
but its a red bellied wood pecker

You just have to be patient with the charcoal, and use a lot , A LOT, of layers
the wing is many many many layers of charcoal of different shades and tints
you just have to work with it

and make sure when you're all done u give it a nice matte finish to keep it fomr smudging

Pretty well done

the drawing itself is really well done, what did you use for the coloring? Felts? it seems to have a water color look to it.

purpleorange responds:

It was colored in Open canvas actually.

Really well done. But there are a few minor flaw's

The drawing is well done and the coloring is accurate. However it seems to go off the lines or isn't completely filled, and not to be a kill joy or anything but when I look at the hands they seem a bit.. crooked, you might wanna improve on that.

Everything else is perfect. Nice job

Castlecrasher0 responds:

Yep im not very good when it comes to drawing hands :P But thanks :D

An interesting amount of detail

Although there's no coloring, the amount you details you put onto the Spartans is fantastic. Even the guy in the very back looks like you put a lot of effort into it.

Sethdd responds:

thanks! yea the funny thing is it only took me about 40 minutes to draw it lol. but i tried to put those little details in there =D

Nice

I see the resemblance from the classic spider man cartoon (or at least that's what I see)

This is very well drawn, nice job

OptimusWii responds:

Thank you.
